Hello, Copenhagen

Statue of H. C. Andersen

Hans Christian Andersen wrote one of my favorite quotes of all time, "To travel is to live." Denmark has always had a special place in my heart as the home of Hans Christian Anderson, and I was thrilled at the opportunity to visit.

Arriving at Københavns Lufthavn Airport(Copenhagen Airport), you follow the signs to ground transportation. Before you enter the train, purchase a ticket from the DSB kiosk.

After securing your ticket, take the train to Copenhagen Central station. The Wakeup Copenhagen Bernstorffsgade was my home for a few days. The hotel is centrally located and close to a majority of things to do in Denmark.

Immediately once you leave Copenhagen central station, the first thing you see is the Tivoli signs. Tivoli Gardens is across the street from the station. Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park in central Copenhagen. Built in1843, it is rumored this was the idea that gave birth to Disneyworld. It's a great place for everyone and a must-see.

Afterward, I walked to Nyhavn. A seventeenth-century waterfront with colorful townhouses, chic cafes, bars, and restaurants. I had lunch at Nyhavn 33. After lunch, head to Vaffelbageren for the best ice cream in the city.

I walked to the Little Mermaid Statue, passing monuments like the Amalienborg Palace, Gefion Fountain, and St.Albans church. The park and surrounding area is a great place to relax.

Denmark has enough museums to last weeks. My favorite is H.C Andersen's house. The city has so much to offer and, I urge you to explore!
